Incidentally, it was in the 21st century that this alley was created to open up the Beauséjour residence and allow school children to go directly to the Simone Signoret school, without having to take the Montée de Robely…The town had acquired the former property in 1990 which meant the work could be carried out. Formerly, where this alley opens out onto the Grande Rue, there was a farm which had been lived in since the end of the 2nd World War by a native bachelor farmer of Saint Priest. Adjoining the buildings, at the end of the plot stood a beautiful vineyard, and at the front, a vegetable garden. In the shed (which still exists) a water tank was transformed into a cellar to store the wine produced. At grape harvest time the family and many neighbours came to help the farmer / winemaker. It was an opportunity to spend a pleasant day together accompanied by the tasting of the first sweet wine ...
